Ok hears the story. This guy decided to fork out 3000 bucks for a t3 turboed d16z6 from a gentlemen in South Carolina. This included sleeved block with rods and pistons, and a tranny with custom lsd. Now ever since he got this motor and put it in his car we have found nothing but problems with the motor. First he blew his clutch so this was needing to be replaced, we took the tranny off and guess what we found, a nice lightened flywheel with a 4 puck disc with a factory pressure plate, no wonder he blew the clutch with a crappy stock pressure plate. Well thats not the end of it. They got it all back together and tried starting it next to find a very loud knocking coming from the 4th cylinder. Well stupid me said "hey , why dont you bring it to my house and will tear it completely apart and rebuild it". Probably not one of my better ideas. Well we got it apart and come to find that all the pistons and rods will need to be replaced and the 4th cylinder wall is scratched bad. We found chunks of bearings in the pan and in the oil pick up. Now my question is, the engine is already bored 40 over and it's sleeved. Can it be bored anymore safely? Will it need to be resleeved? We really dont have any good shops around here that I would trust to do the work so Im kinda stuck for now. What would you guys suggest I do. Ive been think about going the endyn route with the pistons and rods but Im stumped on what to do for the block. Should we just start over with a fresh block and go from their or try to repair the old one? Sorry for so many questions but I really dont know were I should start on this. Any suggestions on what to build the block with or even a place I could send the block to have it done would be great also. Thanks in advance guys!

Is that car you speak of white? A better question is how the hell did he slaughter the motor that bad if it was "built" anyway? I would be checking parts to make sure the thing was built in the first place and ber very suspicious. A stock pressure plate???? bored 40 over???? Your buddy might have gotten took on the deal, and then again, he may have just not known anything about tuning and blew it to bits
Bored 40 is big so I would say scrap the block and get a fresh one to work with. There are a couple good machine shops round here but the best one doesn't do engine assembly for some reason so we are working on that little tid bit. Good luck though

Javin,
Well we have already established that he was taken big time and yes it's Eric's white hatch. He said he talked to ya at work. You can tell that the pistons and rods are aftermarket and you can see the sleeves but the 40 over was what the guy that sold him the motor said so who knows what it really is. I think next will do some measuring and see if anything can be done with the old block but Im highly doubting it. Also Im not sure if these things where wrong with it already when he bought it or if mayb Eric really doesnt know how to dirive it and maybe he caused the problem but Im not sure. So really what it's coming down to is a full rebuild and he's gonna have to take it in the pants I guess. Javin drop me a email with your number or something and maybe you can check it out and give me your opinion.
Later
Also thanks for your reply's guys!!!

Ok, well that really sucks for him cause I had a bad feeling about that buy from the first time I heard about it. This combined with the fact that he really doesn't know anything about going fast except "going fast" would led me to believe it is a big combo of getting took, and poor preparation. I don't know what other tuning issues (det, timing) or tools (BTM, J&S, AVC-R) he was using but he is def. gonna feel this one in his pockets. You should keep checking over at the parts trader cause blocks are for sale all the time cheap. Call me man, I would be more then happy to help out. TTYL

I have a spare d16z6 block just sitting in my basement along with the crank, crank girdle, bolts, and the oil pump is somewhere, I just need to find it. Also have a spare head with a 3angle valve job and a mild port but it needs valve seals. Make me an offer on any of it; I just want to get rid of it. You can email me at [email protected].
